Why won \'t the system accept my Key Code for activating the software? Once you use your key code to activate your software, the system de-activates it so it cannot be used again. If you have already used the key code that came with your copy of the INVISUS® PC Security Solution, then you must purchase an additional licensed key code to use on additional computers.	If you are activating your INVISUS software for the first time, and the system tells you that the key code you entered is invalid, then you have likely entered it incorrectly. Make sure you enter it exactly as it appears. If the system tells you that your key code has already been used, then you have already entered it once during the activation process. If you do not complete the installation process entirely the first time and have used your key code once, your key code will have been de-activated and you won \'t be able to use it a second time. If you are trying to activate your software for the first time and can \'t get your key code to work; or if you are trying to re-install the software after you \'ve already used your key code once, you will have to get your key code re-activated by INVISUS. Please contact the INVISUS Technical Support department at: support@invisus.com, tell them the circumstances and give them your exact key code for reference. I tried to re-install the software on my computer, and it says my INVISUS Key Code is already used. The INVISUS software can only be activated on one computer. If you have multiple computers that you would like to have protected by the INVISUS Security software, then you will need to purchase multiple licenses. When you activate your CD for the first time, your computer’s hardware address is logged in our system. If you try installing the product on a different machine, the address won’t match and it will not let you activate. If you are installing the product on the same computer and you are getting an activation error, please contact our Technical Support Department and explain your situation. Your key code may be reactivated if the situation warrants it. (You must provide your key code and the INVISUS Customer ID you received upon activation). My computer restarts in Safe Mode after installing the software	If your computer restarts in safe mode, the Desktop Firewall may have a conflict with some other software on your computer. To fix this:	• You should go into safe mode on your computer and uninstall the INVISUS® Desktop Firewall, then restart your computer again and try to troubleshoot.	Some ISP dial-up utilities, and in rare cases, web browser configurations and utilities other than Microsoft® Internet Explorer, may cause conflicts with the Desktop Firewall. You may need to upgrade or change your web browser, or possibly change Internet Service Providers in extreme cases. Try re-installing the Desktop Firewall again after making these changes. If these suggestions do not work, you will need to contact the INVISUS® Technical Support department at: support@invisus.com. Why do I need to uninstall my other anti-virus and firewall programs that are already on my computer?	Anti-virus programs take up an enormous amount of your computer \'s resources when they are actively scanning your computer. Having two anti-virus programs running at the same time can cause your computer to run very slow, become unstable and even, in rare cases, crash. We recommend that you never have two anti-virus programs running at the same time.	Running two firewalls on your computer at the same time may also cause unnecessary conflicts or performance problems for you. You do not need two firewalls on your computer to ensure your protection. Certain firewall files that are installed on your computer may cause your Operating System to go into a continuous boot loop. Some firewalls may also cause your system to crash unexpectedly when the INVISUS® Desktop Firewall is installed because of internal system conflicts between the two firewalls.	It is highly recommended that you uninstall all other security programs from your computer before installing INVISUS software - such as firewalls and anti-virus programs - before you install and run the INVISUS® PC Security Solution. Additionally, we only offer technical support and assistance for our programs. If you substitute another program for one of the INVISUS programs, we cannot serve your technical support needs, and the INVISUS protection guarantee will be voided. Why does the system say I have an invalid Sales ID? Make sure you enter the Sales ID that came with your CD exactly as it appears. If you see this error message, the system is not recognizing the Sales ID you entered.	The Sales ID is the identification number of the authorized distributor, sales representative or affiliate company from whom you purchased the software. While activating the software, I got an Activation Server not Responding error. During the activation process (Step 4 on the CD), your CD key code and other information is sent online to the INVISUS activation server so your software can be fully activated. If for some reason your Internet connection isn \'t working or somehow fails, or if there is some other disruption in the connection to the INVISUS activation server, this error message will appear. If you see this error message: • Make sure you are connected to the Internet, and try to activate your software again by going to Step 4 on the CD. • If you are registering under Business Use, replace any ‘&’ symbols with the word ‘and’. • Make sure you have permitted the INVISUS.exe program through the firewall if the firewall is installed and functioning (see “Changing Filter Rules”, in the Configuration section). • If you get the same activation server error message, there may be a temporary problem with the activation server itself. Wait and try again at a later time. • If you continue to get this message, please contact the INVISUS Technical Support department at: support@invisus.com One or more of my programs did not activate correctly. If for any reason one or more of the INVISUS security programs does not activate correctly in during Step 5 on the CD, you would have seen an error message telling you which program(s) didn \'t completely activate. If you get this message, please contact the INVISUS Technical Support department at: support@invisus.com for assistance in finishing the activation. In your email, please list which of the programs did not completely activate along with your phone number and the best time to contact you. Do I need a separate licensed copy of the software for each of my computers?	Yes. Every individual computer needs its own licensed copy of the program. In order to install the program on additional computers you will need to purchase an additional licensed key code. Contact the authorized distributor from whom you purchased the software, or contact INVISUS customer service to purchase additional key codes. Will this work on a server computer?	The INVISUS® PC Security Solution is specifically designed to work on individual desktop and lap top computers. However, it can also be configured to protect Windows based server computers on small networks if desired.	The INVISUS software will NOT work on a Windows 2003 server computer. The software will work on a Windows NT 4.0 server and Windows 2000 server. We suggest that you install INVISUS on the workstation systems in order to protect the whole network. Even if the server is protected, the individual computers still have a high risk of being infected with viruses and Trojans, which may compromise all the network computers.	If you have a larger network of computers and are very concerned about having the best protection possible for the server, you may want to look into securing your server with a server-based software firewall, or a hardware firewall product. These types of firewalls are fairly expensive and usually require maintenance and ongoing management by a qualified security technician or network administrator. Why do I need an INVISUS Customer ID? The MD5 Signature Verification stores a digital signature of each program that is running on your computer. If this signature changes, then you are alerted and asked if you want to accept the change. The most common form of this is when you update a program, it may change it a little, so you will be asked if you would want to accept it. You would say Yes because you initiated the change by updating that program. If it comes up when you didn’t initiate anything, then you can be suspicious of it. It may be a virus or a hacker who has changed it so they can have access to your computer. In this case, you would say No to it. Why do I keep getting “Outgoing Connection Alerts” from the firewall?	Your firewall acts as a big filter for your computer, so every time an unrecognized program wants to connect in or out of your system, it stops the unknown program and pops up either an Incoming or Outgoing Connection Alert . It also asks if you would like to “ Permit ” or “ Deny ” the unknown connection. This is how you control everything that comes in and out of your computer – and how your firewall learns what is authorized. When you first install your firewall, it does not recognize any of your programs until you tell the firewall which are the trusted programs. The most common Connection Alerts that pop up after installation are for dialing up to the Internet, for your email, and for your web browser, etc. You can stop the frequent Connection Alerts by simply creating a filter rule for each of the programs you use and trust. Each Connection Alert gives you a description of the program trying to connect to or from your computer and gives you a choice to permit or deny the connection. If you recognize and trust the program, then you should “Permit” it to always connect without bothering you. You do this by checking the box that says “Create Appropriate Filter Rule and Don’t Ask Again” in the lower left hand corner of the Alert window to create a firewall filter rule, and then click on the Permit button so the firewall will authorize your trusted program to connect.	If nothing in the Connection Alert window looks familiar to you, it is best that you just “Deny” the connection. You can always change it back to a “Permit” if denying it causes any problems (see “ Changing Filter Rules ”, in the Firewall User Guide). Why does my software say the Trial Version has expired?	The INVISUS CD is sent out as trial software with a key code to activate the trial version to a full working version. If you get the “trial version has expired” error message:	• Go to step 5 on the CD and complete the activation process.	• If you have activated the software and it still comes up with the trial version expiration, please contact the INVISUS Technical Support department at: support@invisus.com Why can’t I access the Internet after installing the INVISUS ® software?	The only part of our software suite that affects your Internet connection is the Firewall. If you are getting “Page Cannot Be Displayed” errors in your internet browser, then you may have accidentally denied your browser access to the internet through the Firewall. You will want to check the Filter Rules in the Firewall to make sure that all the programs you use are permitted (see “ Changing Filter Rules ”, in the Firewall User Guide). Why can’t the other computers on my network access the Internet after I installed INVISUS on this computer? If the computers on your network connect to the computer that you installed the INVISUS software on for internet access, then you will need to configure the INVISUS Desktop Firewall to act as the internet server for your network. This can be done by setting it up as the Internet Gateway (see “ Setting a computer up as the Internet Gateway ”, in the Program FAQs section). Why do I keep getting an error telling me to increase the Buffer Size?	If you see a message that says you had a fatal application exit and to increase the buffer size, this usually means that specific default settings in your Operating System may not be configured properly. You will need to increase your Operating System’s buffer size.	• Contact the INVISUS Technical Support department at: support@invisus.com , or	• If you are confident in using the system Registry, you can do this yourself (see “ Increasing Buffer Size ”, in the Firewall FAQs Section). **Do not use the registry if you are not comfortable with changing system settings. Changing the wrong registry key can cause your computer to crash** My computer restarts in Safe Mode after installing the software	If your computer restarts in safe mode, the Desktop Firewall may have a conflict with some other software on your computer. If these suggestions do not work, you will need to contact the INVISUS® Technical Support department at: support@invisus.com . How do I know what to Permit or Deny in the Connection Alerts the Firewall Gives Me? The first thing you want to do when you install the firewall is to go through and open all the programs you use that needs to have access to the internet. For example, open your Internet Explorer, Instant Messenger, Email program like Outlook, anti-virus, etc. You will get an Outgoing Connection Alert for all of those and will need to permit them to give them access to the internet. If you do not permit them, the programs will not function properly. There are a few ways to identify the program that is trying to come in or out of your computer. The first is the icon. The connection alert will have the icon of the program to the left of the window. If it is Internet Explorer that is trying to connect, you will see the blue ‘e’ with the line going around it. Another way is to look at the details of the program. It will give you a path to the actual file that is trying to connect. If you see that it is a program that you use, then you should permit it. If not, deny it. You can also find out what is trying to connect by looking at the address the connection alert gives you. For example, if you see: 168.98.145.6-support.dell.com. The numbers may not mean anything to you, but if you have a Dell computer, you will want to permit that connection. If you do not recognize anything in the window, then deny it. You can always change it back to permit if something stops working (see “ Changing Filter Rules ”, in the Firewall User Guide). How often should I run INVISUS PestPatrol? Upon installation, INVISUS® PestPatrol will automatically begin protecting you from spyware being planted on your computer while you surf the web. You will hear a water drop sound every time spyware is bounced off your computer as you browse.	PestPatrol does a good job at keeping the most harmful spyware and hacker tools from entering your computer. It cannot stop all spyware from entering or it would slow down your internet browsing significantly. You will want to run an update and manual scan with PestPatrol about once a week depending on how often you are on the internet. If you run it once a week and it continues to not find anything, then the automatic blocker is doing a good job and you can put more time between your runs. You can try to run it once every other week to save time. How do I find out who or what is trying to gain access to my computer? When you see a firewall Incoming Connection Alert window pop up with an unfamiliar or unknown source, you can quickly find out who they are by copying down the intruder \'s IP Address and then looking them up on the Internet at certain web services such as www.arin.net./whois. You will be amazed at the different types of people and places that are attempting to connect to your computer without your permission. You can also configure your firewall to create a history that tracks all attempted and blocked intrusions to your computer on an ongoing basis. You will need to activate the tracking feature of your firewall (see “ Tracking Intruders - Using Your Firewall Log ”, in the Firewall User Guide). Why can \'t the Invisus Anti-Virus remove some viruses off my computer? A lot of new viruses come onto the computer and begin working instantly. By doing this, the files are in use and become very difficult for anti-viruses to remove. There are a few ways to get rid of these viruses: • Stop the process of the virus and run the INVISUS Anti-Virus program to remove it. • Boot to Safe Mode and delete the virus manually.	To remove the virus in Safe Mode:	• Restart your computer and tap the F8 key once every second or so until you get a boot menu.	• Choose Safe Mode.	• Follow the path to where the virus is located.	• Right click on the infected file and choose Delete.	• Empty your Recycle bin and restart your computer normally. Why am I not getting any updates to my anti-virus database and other programs? The first thing you should check is the update setting for each of the programs. You may have accidentally changed these settings. If these settings are ok, you will need to check your Firewall filter rules to make sure that your programs are permitted to access the internet (see “ Changing Filter Rules ”, in the Firewall User Guide). © 2001-2005 INVISUS, LLC All rights reserved.",34);arrFiles[6]=new Array(7,"tutorials/tutorials.html","2005-10-10","Invisus Software Video Tutorials","","","Here you can watch tutorials that show you how to run different functions of the INVISUS software. Here are the main features of the INVISUS Anti-Virus program: The main INVISUS Anti-Virus scanner automatically scans your computer every day on a schedule set by you. It also allows you to run scans on demand, including scanning individual files for viruses, Trojans and other malware. INVISUS Anti-Virus provides you with real time Virus and Trojan protection as a backup to the main INVISUS Anti-Virus scanner. The Real Time Virus Scan runs silently in the background guarding your system whenever your computer is turned on, and alerting you if an infected executable file attempts to start up or spread. Your INVISUS Anti-Virus program will continue to protect you as long as your subscription to INVISUS is current.	Click on the menu on this page to learn how to use the components of the INVISUS Anti-Virus program. INVISUS Anti-Virus provides you with real time and user controlled virus protection over your Windows computer environment. The main INVISUS Anti-Virus provides an outstanding level of protection from known Trojans and Viruses, when used to perform a full system scan of all files on your computer. The main INVISUS Anti-Virus scanner is powered by world renowned Sophos® Anti-Virus technology providing extensive coverage of Virus identities that is more usually found in corporate Anti-Virus protection. INVISUS Anti-Virus is designed to protect your system from the threat of viruses and Trojans. The primary role of the software is to ensure that viruses, worms and Trojans are detected and managed according to the rules you have selected. Trojans and Viruses are pieces of software that have been generally written to cause harm to your computer. In the most benign cases, they simply spread between computers infecting as many systems as possible. In the worst cases they can steal your private documents, allow hackers access to your computer to commit further crime or simply destroy your operating system. INVISUS Anti-Virus will detect and handle Virus and Trojans according to your specified requirements. INVISUS Anti-Virus has two main modes of operation. The first allows the user to perform on demand scans of specified locations for Viruses and Trojans. A scan can be performed at any time and the user has total control of the types of files to be scanned and the operations to be carried out should a Virus or Trojan be found.	INVISUS also has a real time virus scan mode which sits silently in the background checking program files as they attempt to execute. Again if a Virus or Trojan is detected then this will be handled as instructed by the user in accordance with the selected settings. The real time Virus Scan can also specify when scans of specified locations will be performed. The user has total control over the days and times that this can occur.	Finally INVISUS provides a method via INVISUS Updates for updating the Anti-Virus dictionary and engine (if available) in order to use the latest information on identifying Viruses and Trojans known to Sophos / INVISUS. To obtain information about the version of INVISUS Anti-Virus being run, the version of virus definitions installed and the number of viruses known to the system, click About on the Help menu in the main INVISUS Anti-Virus scanner or the INVISUS Real Time Virus Scan window to display their About windows. The anti-virus details information contained is updated each time INVISUS Anti-Virus downloads and installs updated anti-virus definitions. We recommend that you use INVISUS Anti-Virus on a computer that meets, or exceeds, the following specification. Minimum System Requirements : • Pentium III 750 MHz processor (or compatible) • 128Mb RAM (or higher) • 40Mb free Hard disk space • CD-ROM drive Operating Systems supported : • Windows 98 SE • Windows ME • Windows 2000 • Windows XP You will be prompted to update INVISUS Anti-Virus immediately upon installation. To ensure the best protection possible, you should update the program right after successful installation.	After you’ve downloaded the latest update, you will be prompted to run a full scan of your computer. You should do this right away to make sure all viruses are removed from your computer. It is essential that the latest Virus and Trojan dictionary definitions are updated and made available to the INVISUS Anti-Virus program to ensure that your system is being scanned using the very latest known anti-virus information	The virus dictionary can be kept up to date by either doing a scheduled download of the latest virus definition files or by manual download. Your INVISUS Anti-Virus program is defaulted to automatically check for updates every day. Your computer must be online during the scheduled time to check for updates. This is done from the Real Time Virus Scan screen. Simply right click on the INVISUS Anti-Virus program icon in the system tray (lower right hand corner by your computer clock), then click on the Show... menu item. From the Real Time Virus Scan screen, you can change the frequency and time of day for checking for updates. It is highly recommended you set your automatic updates to a time when you know your computer will be connected to the Internet every day. If your computer is not connected to the Internet all the time, or if you do not use your computer online at regular times, you will want to get in the habit of manually checking for anti-virus updates when you first connect online. There are two ways you can manually check for available anti-virus updates. After opening the INVISUS Anti-Virus program from your desktop, simply click on the Update button, or from the File menu, click on the Check for Updates menu item.	The second way to manually check for updates is to open the INVISUS Real Time Virus Scan screen. Simply right click on the INVISUS Anti-Virus program icon in the system tray (lower right hand corner by your computer clock), then click on the Show... menu item. From the Real Time Virus Scan screen, click on the Get Updates button.	You can manually check for anti-virus updates at any time. This is generally not necessary because the program automatically checks for updates every day at a set time if the computer is connected to the Internet. However, it is good practice to manually check for updates prior to running any on demand virus scans of your computer. When checking for updates, if an update is available, the INVISUS Anti-Virus Updates screen will appear and proceed to download the new update file. The majority of updates are fast and small. Once in a while, you will receive larger updates where the entire anti-virus engine itself is being updated. These more extensive updates may take a bit longer. Sometimes after successfully downloading an update, you may be asked to reboot your system.	Once all downloads are complete, the updates are installed and you should see a message like The updater program has now finished. Click on the OK button to close the INVISUS Updates screen.	If no updates are available, you may see a message like No updates to process. If you click on the Abort button during an update download, you will be given an opportunity to stop the update. If you abort the download, you will not receive the current update. The INVISUS Anti-Virus scanner is the main component of the INVISUS Anti-Virus package. This section looks at its key features and how it can be configured. INVISUS Anti-Virus automatically scans your computer every day at a set time. Be sure your computer is turned on during the scheduled time. To check or change the scheduled automatic scan time, open the Real Time Virus Scan screen. Simply right click on the INVISUS Anti-Virus program icon in the system tray (lower right hand corner by your computer clock), then click on Show... menu item. The Daily Scan option should be checked by default on the Real Time Virus Scan screen. You can uncheck this box if you do not want daily automatic scans. If you do this, be sure to run on demand scans regularly. From this screen, you can change the time of day you want your computer to be scanned. Be sure to schedule a time when you know your computer will be turned on. You do not need to be connected to the Internet to have your computer scanned for viruses. To start an immediate scan of all the computer \'s hard drives at any time, from the main INVISUS Anti-Virus screen, click the Scan All button or click on the Scan All button from the File menu. The INVISUS Anti-Virus Scanning window will appear and the program will begin scanning your entire computer for viruses. To scan a selection of drives and/or files, including removable and network drives, click Scan Selected on the File menu to display the Pick Items to Scan window. Items can be added or removed by selecting or deselecting the check boxes. To reset your selection, press the Clear button. To scan your selection for viruses, press the OK button. The INVISUS Anti-Virus Scanning window appears and the program begins scanning the selected sources. Upon completing the virus scan, a message box will appear that summarizes the findings of the scan. If no viruses were found, a simple message will be displayed showing that no viruses were found. If any viruses were discovered, by default, you will be given the choice of how to handle the viruses. The results from each run of the main INVISUS Anti-Virus scanner, including any viruses detected by the INVISUS Real Time Virus Scan, are recorded in the main INVISUS Anti-Virus scanner window. This main window is the scan results log file. Each log entry gives the date and time of the scan, the type of scan undertaken and the number of viruses found. A red icon on the left hand side of each log entry shows that one or more virus infected files were detected. A green icon on the left side of each log entry indicates that no viruses were found during the scan. Double clicking on one of these lines shows a details window listing the file name and paths of any infected files, the name of the virus found in each case and any actions taken.	Clicking Clear on the Log menu will clear the current log. Whenever INVISUS Anti-Virus detects a virus while performing a scan, you are shown a Virus Detected! window. This window displays the name of the virus, the infected file location on your computer, and either shows what action was taken or gives you the option of what to do with the virus-infected file. If you want INVISUS Anti-Virus to automatically delete the virus-infected file from your system without asking you first, you need to select the Delete option in the Virus Scan Settings screen. If you want INVISUS Anti-Virus ask you what to do with each virus-infected file it discovers, you must have the program preset to the Prompt option in the Virus Scan Settings screen. With this setting, you can decide which specific action you want to take with the infected file each time a virus is found. The INVISUS Real Time Virus Scan always uses the prompt window on detecting a virus. If a compressed folder (e.g. a zip file) is found to contain a virus infected file, the compressed folder will by default be moved to the INVISUS Virus Quarantine. INVISUS Anti-Virus cannot disinfect files within a compressed folder; the compressed folder needs expanding and its contents rescanned to eliminate or disinfect the virus-infected files. Upon completing the virus scan, a message box will appear that summarizes the findings of the scan. If no viruses were found, a simple message will be displayed showing that no viruses were found. If any viruses were discovered, by default, you will be given the choice of how to handle the viruses. Virus-infected files or Trojans can be manually or automatically moved to the INVISUS Virus Quarantine folder (depending on your settings) where you can review them and take further action as desired. You can access the Virus Quarantine by clicking Virus Quarantine on the File menu. From the Virus Quarantine window, it is possible to restore, disinfect (if possible) or delete an infected file.	The Virus Quarantine window shows a list of quarantined files with their original location and the virus infection detected. To perform an action on a quarantined file, select the file to enable the Restore , Disinfect and Delete buttons at the bottom of the screen.	On clicking the Disinfect button, INVISUS Anti-Virus will attempt to remove or disinfect the part of the file that has been infected. If the file is successfully disinfected, a message will be displayed confirming this. The disinfected file \'s entry in the quarantine list will have its Virus name prefixed with the words Successfully disinfected. You can now restore the file to its original location, if appropriate. If the file cannot be disinfected, a warning message will be displayed. Note: The main INVISUS Anti-Virus scanner can disinfect many viruses automatically, this includes almost all macro Viruses, most boot sector Viruses and several executable file Viruses. On clicking the Delete button, you will be prompted to confirm that you wish to remove the file. Click Yes to delete the file! It is generally recommended that you delete files from the Virus Quarantine that cannot be disinfected. For those files that are fully disinfected, you may wish to restore them to your computer.	On clicking the Restore button, you will be asked to confirm that you wish to move the selected file back to its original location on your computer. If you try to restore an infected file back to your system, you will see a message warning you that you are moving a virus infected file back onto your computer. Restoring virus-infected files back onto your computer is potentially harmful to your computer and is not recommended. INVISUS Anti-Virus provides a number of options for the control and handling of Viruses and Trojans. This section will explain the settings and control features provided by the main INVISUS Anti-Virus scanner.	To configure the level of file scanning performed by the main INVISUS Anti-Virus scanner and the action taken by it on detecting an infected file, click Settings on the Options menu to reveal the Settings window. The Quick Scan setting checks the parts of each file that are most likely to contain Viruses. This level is sufficient for normal operation. The Full Scan examines the complete contents of each file on your system. This level is more secure and rigorous and it is slower than a quick scan. A full scan is needed in order to detect some Viruses, but it is recommended that full scanning only be enabled on a case-by-case basis. There are several options you have for handling Infected Files. The default action taken by INVISUS Anti-Virus is to alert you to the virus discovery, and then prompt you to make a decision on what you want to do with the virus-infected file. There are four different action settings you can select for the program to take when it finds a virus. The Quarantine option will move the infected file into the INVISUS Virus Quarantine folder. Quarantined files can be reviewed and further actions taken by clicking Virus Quarantine on the File menu. The Delete option will automatically remove the virus-infected file from the system without any prompt. The Ignore option will not do anything to a Virus or Trojan infected file if detected. Of course, the file will not be allowed to execute or infect your system. The Prompt option will present a window with a range of actions in a dropdown list. This not only alerts you to the discovery of a virus, but also allows you to choose the action to take with the infected file. This is useful when a single preset action is not always appropriate. Whenever your computer is turned on, INVISUS Anti-Virus provides you with automatic real time protection against viruses and worms. With the INVISUS Real Time Virus Scan, every file on your computer is monitored for virus activity at all times. This Real Time Virus Scan works together with the Invisus Anti-Virus Scanner to provide complete protection against viruses on your system. INVISUS Real Time Virus Scan also provides a scheduling feature to automate the running of a daily virus scan and regular checks for updated virus definitions. The Real Time Virus Scan is automatically loaded when you start your computer. It’s icon is shown in the system tray on the Windows task bar (lower right hand corner by your computer clock). The Real Time Virus Scan window can be opened via the INVISUS Real Time Virus Scan system tray icon in the Windows task bar - by either double-clicking on the icon, or by right-clicking on it and selecting the Show menu item. At the bottom of the main window, you can Stop and Start the INVISUS Anti-Virus Real Time Virus Scan.	Pressing Stop will cause a pop up warning to be displayed to confirm that you wish to stop INVISUS Real Time Virus Scan. Please note that if the INVISUS Real Time Virus Scan is stopped you will no longer be automatically protected from Viruses as you use your system. It is not recommended that the INVISUS Real Time Virus Scan be stopped unless there is an important reason for doing so. All the scheduling for the main Virus Scanner and for getting anti-virus updates is found located on the Real Time Virus Scanner window. INVISUS Anti-Virus is set by default to check for updates once a day. You can choose to have the program check less often than that, but it’s not recommended. You should, however, adjust the time during the day when the program goes online and checks for anti-virus updates. Be sure to schedule a time when you know your computer will be turned on and connected to the Internet. You must be online to get your updates. © 2001-2005 INVISUS, LLC All rights reserved.",50);arrFiles[8]=new Array(25,"usingthesoftware/bigfix.html","2005-10-10","Invisus BigFix User Guide","","","Printer Friendly Version What does INVISUS® BigFix do? Understanding Fixlet messages Patching security holes on your computer Security Alert messages Gather the latest patches and fixes What Does INVISUS ® BigFix Do? Because today \'s software programs are not built from the ground up with security in mind, most or all of the software you use on your computer is full of security holes. Although none of the programs were built intentionally with these major holes, hackers have done a great job of breaking them down and finding their weaknesses. If you don \'t patch these holes as they are discovered, you are leaving yourself wide open to all types of cyber-attacks.	Of most importance are the security holes in the Microsoft® Windows Operating Systems and applications you use on your computer. It doesn \'t matter whatever Windows® Operating System or other applications such as Word and Excel that you have running on your computer - they all have dozens of major security holes that hackers have discovered and will use to attack you if you don \'t patch the holes.	INVISUS® BigFix is an extremely powerful program that makes patching the security holes in your computer \'s software applications simple and easy. As the security patches or updates are released by Microsoft or other companies, INVISUS provides you with the patches you need to close the security holes on your own computer. And you will only receive patches that are relevant to your computer. Understanding Fixlet® Messages	When you first install the full version of the program, INVISUS® BigFix will immediately look at your machine and deliver to you any security patches your computer needs right now. These patches are sent to you through a Fixlet® message.	A Fixlet is the message you receive from INVISUS® BigFix when a security patch, update or security alert becomes relevant to you and your computer. You should read each Fixlet message carefully to understand what security hole will be closed by the Fixlet. Patching the Security Holes on Your Computer	Whenever a new security patch is needed for your Microsoft software, INVISUS® BigFix will pop up a small Fixlet message in the lower right hand corner of your computer screen letting you know that a new vulnerability has been discovered on your computer, and that there is a patch available to fix it. It is important that whenever you see those pop up messages on your desktop, you quickly take action and close the security hole on your computer.	Each Fixlet message contains a link that you click on to retrieve the patch and apply it to your computer. It \'s a simple one-click-fix. Some patches will require you to restart your computer. Just follow the instructions. Once you have successfully applied the patch to your computer, the message will automatically disappear because it is no longer relevant to you - you \'ve fixed it! Security Alert Messages	All the critical INVISUS® Security Alert messages are delivered through this program. When a new virus, worm or other type of threat becomes potentially dangerous to you, you will be given an immediate Security Alert message on your desktop warning you of the new threat and giving you recommendations on how to avoid getting infected or attacked.	These Security Alert messages pop up in the lower right hand corner of your computer screen when they are issued. If you click on the pop-up message, you can read the details of the Security Alert and prepare yourself. Gather the Latest Patches and Fixes	INVISUS® BigFix automatically checks for new security patches every day. However, you can check for current patches, alerts, or updates at any time. All you need to do is open the program and click on the Gather button in the top menu. You will immediately receive any and all Fixlet messages that are relevant to your computer. © 2001-2005 INVISUS, LLC All rights reserved.",18);arrFiles[9]=new Array(26,"usingthesoftware/firewall.html","2005-10-10","Invisus Destop Firewall User Guide","","","Printer Friendly Version Connection Alert Pop-Up Windows Stopping the Connection Alerts from Popping Up Creating Firewall Filter Rules Changing Your Filter Rules Networks: Internet Gateway or Server Computers Your Security Settings Intrusion Detection Tracking Intruders - Using Your Firewall Log Who is Hacking Your Computer? How do I Turn Off the Firewall? Connection Alert Pop-Up Windows Upon installation, your desktop firewall will begin immediately to filter out all unauthorized communications to or from your computer. Every time an unauthorized program, request, or communication is attempted to or from your computer, you will see an immediate Connection Alert pop-up window on your screen. You will see Incoming or Outgoing alerts. You should look at these alerts carefully before you decide to Permit or Deny the connection to or from your computer.	Outgoing Connection Alert: These outgoing alerts are warning you about programs in your computer that are trying to connect out to the Internet or to another computer on a network.	Incoming Connection Alert: These incoming alerts warn you of unauthorized intruders (hackers) or other non-permitted programs outside your computer attempting to connect into your computer without your permission. These are very important alerts to watch for. Read more details about this Intrusion Detection below.	When you see these alerts on your screen, the connection will not be allowed until you choose to either permit it or deny it. Of course, when you want to use a certain program, like email, you need to click on Permit when you see a connection alert pop up for your email program. You can make rules for your firewall to always permit your trusted programs to connect to the Internet. (see below, Creating Firewall Filter Rules) Stopping the Connection Alerts	from Popping Up	When you first start using the firewall after installation, you will see a firewall Connection Alert pop-up on your screen every time you try to dial up and connect to the Internet, use your email, start up your web browser - or anytime anyone or anything tries to connect to your computer from the Internet.	Remember, these Connection Alerts are warning you about someone or something trying to connect to your computer without your permission or trying to connect out of your computer to the Internet without your permission. In order to stop the Connection Alerts that pop up when you use your everyday programs like email, you must create a Firewall Rule for each trusted program that you use regularly - like email. Firewall rules are rules that you set up on your firewall to always Permit or always Deny a program from connecting in or out of your computer. They are simple to set up. Once you set up the rule, your firewall will always permit or deny the connections according to the rule you set, and you won \'t be bothered again with a pop-up Connection Alert again. Creating Firewall Filter Rules	To set up a firewall rule for trusted programs such as email, dial-up connections, and web browsers, follow this simple step:	The next time you see a Connection Alert window pop-up as you try to use a program, click on the small empty box in the lower left hand corner of the Connection Alert window then click Permit or Deny as desired. This creates a permit or deny rule for the program or function that prompted the Connection Alert window to pop up.	If you don \'t create a filter rule and just click on Permit or Deny, you will have permitted or denied that connection just that one time or instance - and you will see another connection alert pop up for that same thing again the next time you use that program. Changing Your Filter Rules	If you \'ve accidentally created a filter rule that you didn \'t want, or if you simply want to check the rules you established, you can easily view and change the firewall filter rules at any time. You can change the firewall \'s filter rules that you \'ve established by following these steps:	1. Go to your firewall \'s Administration screen. (You can right click on the blue shield in the lower right hand corner task bar, and then click on Administration. Or you can open the firewall, click on the File menu, then click on Admin…)	2. Click on the Advanced button in the middle-right hand side of the screen. You should see the main Filter Rules screen now.	3. Look down the list of Filter Rules that have been created for your computer and find the rule that you want to change. Double-click on the rule you want to change.	4. Click on the Permit or Deny button on the bottom left part of the filter rule screen accordingly to change the rule, then click OK. This will change the rule for you.	5. Click the OK button again to close the Filter Rule screen. You can close out of the firewall program now if you choose. Networks: Internet Gateway or Server Computers	If you \'ve installed the firewall on a computer that acts as an Internet gateway or Internet server for other computers on a network, you must configure your firewall to function as a gateway firewall. In other words, if the firewall is installed on a computer that provides the connection to the Internet for your other computers, you must set the firewall up to let the other computers access the Internet through that computer and the firewall.	You can set your computer up to act as a Gateway to the Internet for other computers with these simple steps:	1. 3. Click on the Miscellaneous tab at the top of the firewall program screen.	4. Check the box that says Is running an Internet Gateway.	5. Click Apply and then click OK. The firewall will now let other computers access the Internet through your computer. Your Security Settings	On the main firewall Administration screen, you will see a toggle switch with different security settings (low, medium and high security). The firewall installs with the middle (medium) security setting automatically in place. You can adjust the security settings by simply clicking on the toggle switch and dragging it to the desired setting. Here is an overview of the three different security settings:	LOW - Permit Unknown: This bottom setting is the least secure. In fact, it will allow any and all unauthorized intrusions into your computer. It is highly recommended you never leave your computer running with this setting. Most often, this setting is used to troubleshoot a problem you might be having with a specific program accessing the Internet. By setting your firewall on this level, it \'s as if you don \'t have a firewall in place.	MEDIUM - Ask Me First: With this middle setting, your firewall will not allow any network or Internet activity without your permission first, or unless you have a filter rule already in place. When you configure your firewall with this setting, Connection Alert windows will pop up and ask you to permit or deny all incoming and outgoing firewall activity if it doesn \'t have a rule created for it. This Ask Me First setting is most recommended for everyday use.	With this medium (Ask Me First) setting, you will be automatically and immediately alerted to unauthorized intrusions to your computer. These Connection Alerts act as a built-in Intrusion Detection System that is very helpful in monitoring who or what is trying to get at your computer without your permission.	HIGH - Deny Unknown: With this setting, your firewall with automatically deny all attempted communications in or out of your computer that does not have a rule created for it. You won \'t even be asked whether you want to allow the connection, it will just deny it if there isn \'t a rule already created for it. Intrusion Detection	After you have created firewall filter rules for your computer, you should not see any Connection Alert windows pop-up for programs you regularly use. As long as you have your firewall set to the medium - Ask Me First setting (see above), you will be notified immediately with a Connection Alert window that someone or some program is attempting to connect in or out of your computer without your permission. The firewall installs pre-set to the Ask Me First security setting.	These connection alert windows act as a personal Intrusion Detection System for you, warning you about all unauthorized activity. Your firewall will not only block hackers from getting into your computer, it will also detect when they try to connect to your computer.	When these connection alert windows pop-up unexpectedly, look closely at the description of who or what is trying to get into your machine. If you would like, you can write down or copy the IP Address of the person making an unauthorized connection and then find out who they are. (see below, Who is Hacking Your Computer?) Tracking Intruders - Using Your Firewall Log	You can track all the firewall activity on your computer, including hackers and other unauthorized intruders. To create a log file, or a history, of the attempted intrusions into your computer, you must configure your firewall to track this information for you. Activate the Firewall Log: In order to turn on the tracking feature of the firewall, please follow these steps:	1. Go to your firewall \'s Administration screen. (You can right click on the blue shield in the lower right hand corner task bar, and then click on Administration. Or you can open the firewall program, click on the File menu, then click on Admin…)	2. Click on the Advanced button in the middle-right hand side of the screen.	3. Click on the Miscellaneous tab at the top of the firewall program screen.	4. Check the box that says Log Packets to Unopened Ports.	5. Also check the box that says Log Suspicious Packets.	6. Click Apply and then click OK. The firewall will now begin to track all attempted connections to your computer. Important Recommendation: It is recommended that you only track attempted intrusions to your computer with this feature for short periods of time (several weeks, not several months). The Firewall Log file can become very large and could potentially take up a significant amount of memory on your computer if you leave this function turned on for several months at a time. View the Firewall Log: After you begin tracking the attempted intrusions to your computer, you can view the complete history or firewall log file. This can reveal very important information about who is trying to access your computer on a regular basis.	When you view the firewall log file, you will see rows of detailed information about each attempted connection to your computer. About two-thirds across each line or row, you will see the IP Address of the person or company that tried to connect to your computer. It will be a series of 4 separate numbers and will look something like this: 162.224.16.105.3347. The first four sets of numbers are the IP Address of the unauthorized intruder. The last set of numbers is the port from the intruder \'s computer that was used to launch their attack. Copy down or write down that IP Address if you want to find out who tried to connect (see below, Who is Hacking Your Computer?). Who is Hacking Your Computer?	When an Incoming Connection Alert window unexpectedly pops up (after you \'ve created all your filter rules for your trusted programs), you should check this out very carefully and find out who is trying to get at your computer. To find out who is trying to connect to your computer, find and copy the intruders IP Address from the connection alert window.	Copy or paste the suspicious IP address into this website: www.arin.net/whois	This public website will give you the publicly known information about the origin of the IP Address that was used in an attempted connection to your computer. Many times you will only see a block of IP Addresses owned by a large Internet Service Provider (ISP). In that case, the hacker or intruder is hidden behind that ISP. Often times, you may see your own ISP or other ISP \'s checking to see if your online or now. In any case, it \'s helpful to know who is trying to connect to your computer without your permission or knowledge. How do I Turn Off the Firewall?	If you need or want to disable the Desktop Firewall, follow these steps. Simply open the firewall, click on File menu at the top of the firewall screen, then click on Admin.... Near the top of the firewall administration screen, uncheck the box that says Firewall Enabled.	Please keep in mind that if you disable the firewall, you lose your stealth invisibility on the Internet, and you lose any protection offered by the firewall. In situations such as troubleshooting an Internet connection, it may require the temporary disabling of the firewall to determine if the firewall is causing the Internet block, but for the most part, you should never leave your firewall disabled for extended periods of time. © 2001-2005 INVISUS, LLC All rights reserved.",34);arrFiles[10]=new Array(27,"usingthesoftware/pestpatrol.html","2005-10-10","Invisus PestPatrol User Guide","","","Printer Friendly Version Scanning for Spyware and Hacker Tools Analyze a pest or file Removing pests Spyware CookiePatrol Turning off the sounds Automatic scans Updating the pest database Scanning For Spyware and Hacker Tools This user guide describes the main features and functions of the INVISUS® PestPatrol program that are most commonly used. There are many other interesting features of the program not fully discussed here that you can quickly understand by exploring the different parts of the program.	To scan your computer and find all the spyware, hacker tools, password crackers, Trojan horses, etc. that may be planted on your computer, follow these simple steps:	1. Open INVISUS® PestPatrol by double-clicking on the desktop icon.	2. Select the drives of your computer you wish to scan by double clicking on the selected hard drive, or by clicking on it once and then clicking on Add. You can even select floppy disks, CD \'s, and Zip Drives for scanning.	3. Once you have added the drives you want to scan, click on Start to begin the full scan. You can stop the scan at any time if you wish by clicking on Stop. The full scan will take longer depending on the size and number of drives you are scanning. When the scan is completed, you will be given a complete report of what was found. Analyze A Pest or File After completing a scan of your system, you are given a complete report of all the pests found. The temptation is to go ahead and delete everything the program discovered. But, you may want to quickly look through the pests that were found and make a determination whether you want to delete each one or not. For example, you may use a program that looks and acts like spyware or a hacker tool, but you know and use it all the time. If you trust the program and want to keep it, you probably won \'t want to have INVISUS® PestPatrol delete it - unless because now that you know it is considered dangerous you don \'t want it any longer. For those trusted files or programs, you will want to exclude that file from being detected in future scans. This is done easily by clicking on the trusted file button in the results area of the scan, and then clicking on the Exclude button instead of quarantine or delete You can also have the program quarantine suspicous files that you want to analyze, or find out more details about, before deleting or removing. If you are not sure whether or not a specific program or file is dangerous, or whether you want to exclude it from further scans, you can analyze the file to learn more about it and determine its level of safety or danger. The INVISUS® PestPatrol program will tell you the latest information known about the file you are analyzing and will inform you of its known risk level as well as any other pertinent information you may want to know. Removing Pests Once a scan of your computer is completed, read carefully through the details of each pest that was detected. You can then decide whether you delete each one, quarantine them, or ignore them. There are very few types of pests that this program discovers that you would want to keep on your computer - unless you put it there yourself and know what it is, or if it is a critical part of one of the trusted applications you use. But don \'t be fooled by pests that are part of programs like Internet music and file sharing programs, etc. Many programs downloaded or shared across the Internet are loaded with spyware and hacker tools. Some may not work at all after you delete the sypware that came with it. You will have to make the choice whether you are comfortable with keeping the spyware on your computer and continue using the risky program, or deleting the program altogether.	Simply delete the identified files or programs (pests) you don \'t want. If any are in question, you can quarantine them and take time to investigate and more fully understand what it is before you decide to delete it. While in quarantine, spyware or hacker tools do not present any risk to you. Spyware CookiePatrol The INVISUS® PestPatrol program automatically smashes or deflects any spyware cookies that try to infect your computer. You will hear a water drop sound from your computer every time a spyware cookie is bounced off your computer and eliminated. As you browse the Internet, you will hear this sound frequently as the program is defending you against the massive amounts of spyware out there. Turning off the Sounds The sounds that are made when the program scans and finds spyware and hacker tools can be turned off by clicking on the Options tab and then the Interface tab of the program.	The water drop sound that is made every time a spyware cookie is bounced off of your computer can be turned off by right clicking on the INVISUS® PestPatrol folder in your computer \'s system tray (the folder with a spyglass in the lower right hand corner of your screen). Click on CookiePatrol, then click on Disable Sound. By leaving this alert sound on, however, you will know which web sites you visit are trying to attach spyware cookies on your computer. Automatic Scans This program automatically scans for spyware cookies, hacker tools and other dangerous pests on a regular basis. The program constantly scans the active memory of the computer while the computer is turned on, protecting your system from hacker tools while you are online and using your computer. The Cookie Patrol feature is also automatically set to deflect sypware automatically for you as you surf the web. You can even set the program to do a full scan of your computer for pests every time you turn on and login to your computer (this setting is not activated by default. You can check the program \'s settings for automatic scans by clicking on the Options tab and then the Automatic Scans tab. Updating the Pest Database You can manually update INVISUS® PestPatrol by going to the Options tab on the main screen, then clicking on Updates. Click on the Update Now button. Or you can go to your Windows Programs list, click on PestPatrol, then click on PPUpdater. You also can set the program to automatically check online for the latest updates every time you open and run the program. Click on the Options tab on the main screen, then click on Updates. You can then choose to have the program automatically check for updates every time you open the program or every time you exit the program. For maximum protection, you should frequently open, update and run this program on your computer to check for malicious activity and programs.
